The Barnes & Noble where I work is next to a Bed, Bath & Beyond. The serious book buyers are the ones who actually bring in the shopping cart from next door to use while shopping for books.

Crazy Customers

  • [A customer comes in our store to buy a Nook . . .]
  • Me: We have a promotion going on right now. When you buy a Nook you get two free tickets to the pre-screening of The Hunger Games. Would you like to get the tickets?
  • Customer: What is it?
  • Me: You get two free tickets to go see The Hunger Games two days before it's in the theaters.
  • Customer: The Hunger Games? What's that a rock band?
  • Me Wanting To Say: Yeah, it's a rock band and you have to fight your way out of the stadium at the end of the show or end up being killed.

Crazy Customers

  • Customer: Do you have a paperback copy of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo?
  • Me: Yes we do (I proceed to get the book).
  • Customer: We walked out of the movie about mid-way through. It was way too graphic.
  • Me: Well, the book is more graphic and descriptive than the movie. Are you sure you want it?
  • Customer: Yeah, because when I read it, I'm not seeing it.
  • Me Wanting To Say: I guess that's true if you have absolutely no imagination.
